FileSystem Utilities

At HEPArts, Inc., our line of IT Products consists of programs to aid professionals in the Information Technology fields. These programs are a bit sophisticated, and they require some expertise of the person in order to be of use. They involve tasks which a Tech person must perform, and they are designed to make these tasks easier.

darcor

This program is used to Archive directories of files. It supports compression and encryption of the directory-archives. We have put a great deal of effort into the Filtering Options, to specify which files to take or to ignore.

DirSnap

This program is used to take a snapshot of directories and files. It can evaluate differences between snapshots taken at different times, and it can generate delta-files to bring the previous state up to the current state. It supports compression and encryption of the directory-snapshot and delta-files. This program is most useful for aiding with installing a program on many Client computers.

RegDiff

This program is used to take a snapshot of the Registry, for computers running Microsoft Windows. It can evaluate differences between snapshots taken at different times, and it can generate delta-files to bring the previous state up to the current state. It supports compression and encryption of the snapshot and delta-files. This program is most useful for aiding with installing a program on many Client computers, and it can be used in conjunction with the DirSnap program above.

DiskExercizer

The DiskExercizer program is used to exercise a new disk, stressing the weak regions of the medium so that bad blocks collapse and get entered into the Bad Block Table of the device. It should be used before installing valuable information onto the disk. This program runs on formatted disks, and it can be used to execise the disk at any point in the life of the disk.

fsVeracicor

This is an Intrusion Detection program. It is used to take a Security snapshot of directories and files in a known good state. Then, nightly it compares the current state to this snapshot. It evaluates the differences and EMails a report to the person managing the computer.

kryptor

This program is used to compress and encrypt files. The compression is done first, and the encryption is layered on top of this. Either layer can be skipped.

realzip

This program is used to compress files. The compression is the DEFLATE algorithm of RFC-1951. This is the same algorithm that gzip uses, and realzip is compatible with gzip.

lslr

This program is used to list directories of files recursively. It is also used as a find operator, because the Filtering Options are easy to use. We have put a great deal of effort into the Filtering Options, to specify which files to take or to ignore.

cloneDir

This program is used to duplicate directories of files. It preserves timestamps, and it reproduces ownership and permissions if the caller has such privileges. It builds a mirror of the whole hierarchy of files and subdirectories. We have put a great deal of effort into the Filtering Options, to specify which files to take or to ignore.
